Physiology & Developmental Biology Department Chair

Q: What is your area of study?

A: Nervous System Development in vertebrate embryos.

Q: How long have you been at BYU?

A: Since 2001.

Q: What are your Hobbies?

A: Kids and cars. I own a 1965 Ford Mustang that I restored with my dad and Brother.

Q: How many siblings do you have?

A: I am the second of six children. I have four sisters and one brother.

Q: If you could do anything in the entertainment industry, what would it be?

A: Writing screenplay. While Marvel movies are great, most thriller/mystery movies and TV shows are intellectually underwhelming. As a family, we usually guess the bad guy 10 minutes into the plot.

Q: Are you married? If so, how long have you been married? How many kids, etc.?

A: I am married. I met my wife, Susie, here at BYU. She is from Mesa, Arizona. An interesting fact: We were born in Mesa, AZ, and we both have predominantly Scandinavian ancestry. We were married in 1991 and have seven children. Ours oldest and youngest are girls, with five boys in the middle.

Q: If you could change your first name, what would you change it to?

A: Tony... or Howard. Salute to Marvel fans everywhere!
